Sylhet, Bangladesh — Sylhet International University (SIU) has formed a new committee for its Cultural Club as part of efforts to encourage students’ creative and cultural activities.
The committee, known as the SIU Cultural Club Convening Committee 2026, was approved by university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Ashraful Alam and Student Welfare Adviser Professor Md Totiur Rahman.
Assistant Professor Anupam Gop of the Department of Law has been appointed convener of the committee, while Lecturer Tasnim Rahman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) will serve as treasurer.
The university has appointed Shamim Mia, Anisur Rahman Sanjib and Samia Rahman as joint conveners. Imran Mufafsir of the Department of English has been appointed member secretary, while Tarek Rahman of the CSE department will serve as assistant treasurer.
The executive committee also includes Md Tasnim Ahmed and Susmita Goswami from the Department of English; Abu Sufian Pathan from the Department of Law; Arpita De Chowdhury from the Department of CSE; and Muslima Begum from the Department of Business Administration.
The new committee is expected to organise a cultural programme shortly to mark the official opening of the SIU Cultural Club.
University officials say the club will provide students with opportunities to develop their talents, take part in creative activities and become more actively involved in cultural programmes.
Assistant Professor Anupam Gop, the committee’s convener, said a full committee would be formed soon.
He also said the club would organise regular programmes aimed at developing students’ cultural skills and encouraging greater participation in creative activities.
