The Key to Kindness

It was a cold evening when Lily realized she had lost her keys. She stood in the middle of the quiet street, patting her pockets and looking through her bag. The library visit seemed so distant now, as if the time had blurred away with the growing chill.
Desperate, she retraced her steps, but when she reached the entrance of the library, she saw a young boy standing near the door with something in his hand.
“Excuse me, miss,” he said, holding out her keys. “You dropped these outside.”
Lily blinked in surprise, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. “Thank you! I thought I’d lost them for good.”
The boy smiled. “Sometimes things have a way of returning when you least expect it.”
Lily’s heart warmed at his words. In that small moment, she realized that kindness—just like her lost keys—had a way of finding its way back to her when she needed it most.
