1 August 2026: Kavya Kishor International (KKI) marks its sixth anniversary today, six years after it was founded in Bangladesh on 1 August 2020 by Bangladeshi poet and writer Parvej Husen Talukder.
What began as a Bengali literary and rhyme magazine under the name Kavya Kishor gradually developed beyond its original scope. In 2021, the publication expanded into Kavya Kishor Worldwide, introducing both Bengali and English publications and beginning a broader effort to connect writers and readers across languages and borders.
The project continued to grow internationally, attracting writers and editors from different countries. By 2022, Kavya Kishor English had developed an international readership and editorial network, with contributors from countries including Kyrgyzstan and Australia. Poet Michael Hislop later joined the editorial leadership, contributing to the publication’s international development.
In September 2023, Kavya Kishor Worldwide was transformed into Kavya Kishor International, establishing KKI as an international literary organisation. The English edition was subsequently discontinued, while the Bengali Kavya Kishor publication continued and Luminance was introduced as a new international creative publication.
Today, KKI describes itself as a home for international creatives and a publisher of Kavya Kishor and Luminance. Its platform has featured writers, poets, artists and other creative voices from different cultural and geographical backgrounds.
The organisation’s current editorial activity continues to include international literary and creative contributions. In 2026, KKI has continued inviting writers, poets, translators and visual artists from around the world to contribute original work.
For founder Parvej Husen Talukder, the anniversary represents the continuation of an initiative that began with a small literary publication and gradually developed into an international creative platform.
KKI’s six-year journey reflects a broader effort to create opportunities for writers and artists to share their work across linguistic and cultural boundaries, while maintaining its roots in Bengali literature.
As Kavya Kishor International enters its seventh year, its work continues to centre on literature, creativity, cultural exchange and collaboration among creators from different parts of the world.
