Poetry by Ermelinta Melina Papa

My Eternal Desire

There,
where my tears kiss the open ocean,
I live, I breathe, I yearn,
our Unique World,
to be transformed into bliss!
With it,
I will wrap the rosy dawn,
to be my soul’s eternal charm.
Joyfully, the sunbeams will dance,
and I will cradle them in my arms.
So that war and fear may shatter,
For we deserve to live in peace and calm.

Oh, My Wind of South!

Oh, my wind of the South!
Caress upon my lips!
Every time you pamper me,
I grow into an evergreen tree.
As you bring him to my chest,
our love’s nest flourishes within.
His fire keeps me warm,
no fear of any storm.
You, the king of my Earth,
giving me wings every moment.
To fly in the open sky,
chasing the dazzling stars.
As you water my veins,
you soothe my every pain.
Oh, majesty of my heart,
let our love last forever!

I Am

I am Melio of honey,
With hills for my footstool.
And stars in my curls.
I bend down and gather water with my fingers.
And look! I cup the river in my palm,
In its flow, I cleanse my wants.
I transform into a crystal-clear waterfall.
Spring flows inside me,
Spilling rivers at my feet,
As they rush to kiss the open seas!
