In a country where the legal system often struggles under the weight of backlog and bureaucracy, Advocate Anik—known off the record as A. M. Iktear Uddin—has carved a rare path marked by energy, innovation, and an unshakable commitment to justice. Over the past decade and a half, he has emerged not just as a legal expert but as a trusted ally to companies, governments, and ordinary citizens in need of protection and advocacy.

From Small Town Roots to Courtroom Command

Born in 1984 in the quiet district of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, Anik’s early life was defined by personal tragedy. He lost both parents at a young age—his mother, Nanda (later known as Shanaz Parvin), and his father, Abdul Jalil. Growing up amid two cultures and religious traditions, Anik developed an empathetic, inclusive worldview that would later become central to his work.

In 1999, he moved to Bangalore, where he pursued legal studies with a tenacity that impressed professors and peers alike. He completed his LLB from Bangalore University in 2008 and went on to secure an LLM in Corporate Law, graduating with distinction from the University Law College in 2010.

The Prime Legal Chapter

In 2009, Anik co-founded Prime Legal with his life partner and fellow legal scholar, Ayantika Mondal. The firm began modestly, offering legal troubleshooting for businesses, but quickly gained attention for its efficiency and deep legal insight. Under Anik’s leadership, Prime Legal expanded into multiple sectors, from fintech and IT to transportation and employment law.

He didn’t stop there. Anik went on to become a partner in firms like Vidhikarya and OLQ Online Legal Experts, broadening his reach and assembling a legal network that now advises over 50 startups and corporates nationwide.

Legal Maverick for the Digital Age

In a world increasingly shaped by technology, few legal professionals have responded with as much agility as Advocate Anik. He has led major cases involving cybercrime, cryptocurrency fraud, and data protection. His role in cases involving the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and Cyber Crime Cells across India has made him a go-to advisor for companies navigating serious regulatory scrutiny.

One of his standout moments came while working as Associate Director (Legal) at Ola Cabs, where he successfully overturned a sudden government ban—within just 24 hours—by leveraging strategic litigation and timely negotiation.

A Record of Results and Compassion

Advocate Anik has handled over 30,000 cases, ranging from corporate disputes to high-stakes criminal matters. He served as a Special Public Prosecutor in a sensational double murder case in JP Nagar and has been instrumental in helping law enforcement rescue trafficking victims—many of whom were minors from Bangladesh, Nepal, Russia, and Afghanistan.

Through pro bono partnerships with NGOs like Taalsah, he has worked to rehabilitate survivors of trafficking, earning letters of appreciation from cybercrime and anti-terror units across India.

The Human Side of Law

Despite his extensive portfolio and high-profile clientele, Advocate Anik continues to see law as a service. His approach—grounded in empathy, detail, and strategic vision—makes him a rare figure in Indian law. Whether advising fintech startups, representing victims of heinous crimes, or navigating policy with the government, he remains focused on making the legal system work for those who need it most.

Today, as he continues to lead legal teams, guide corporate boards, and shape national conversations around justice, Advocate Anik is not just practicing law—he is redefining its purpose.
