Musasizi Timothy Karubanga, known as MK Timothy, is a prominent Ugandan entrepreneur and angel investor whose innovative ventures are reshaping Uganda’s business environment. Born on October 30, 1990, MK Timothy’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leading figure in Uganda’s entrepreneurial community is a testament to his dedication and vision.
Early Life and Education
MK Timothy’s academic journey took him to the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan, where he pursued Communications Engineering. It was during his time in Japan that he founded his first business, Tim Tech Consults, in December 2008. This IT services company marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial endeavors.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 2010, MK Timothy relocated Tim Tech Consults to Uganda, expanding its operations across Africa. Under his leadership, the company has grown to include 80 associates and three offices across the continent, offering services such as application software development, business process outsourcing, and IT infrastructure management. Tim Tech Consults has become one of the largest private IT service providers in Africa.
Beyond Tim Tech Consults, MK Timothy has diversified his business portfolio. He has ventured into real estate, acquiring and renovating properties in Kampala and Mbarara. Additionally, he has invested in agricultural enterprises, including a coffee plantation in Masaka and a rainwater filtration and bottling company aimed at providing cleaner water to Ugandans.

In 2017, MK Timothy founded MK Timothy & Company, a strategic advisory firm focused on attracting foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Uganda. The firm specializes in sectors such as tourism, minerals, petroleum, agriculture, manufacturing, agro-value addition, and ICT. Through this initiative, MK Timothy aims to connect local business opportunities with global investors, fostering economic growth and international partnerships.
Recognition and Impact
MK Timothy’s contributions to Uganda’s economic development have been widely recognized. In 2017, he was honored as one of the top 100 young economic entrepreneurs in Africa. His philanthropic efforts, including health and development programs in rural areas, further underscore his commitment to improving the lives of his fellow Ugandans.
