By Daniel de Culla
It happened in Rita’s Pergola
In Moradillo de Roa, Burgos:
The Potato Beetle or Dorifora
Climbed onto the shell of a snail
Which said it had come
From Santa María de Sacos, Galicia
Fallen from a rainy cloud
A stormy morning with sun.
It climbed onto its spiral shell
Because it wanted to escape from the banana slug
The wasp, the fly or mosquito
And because it wanted to fulfill the sentence of:
“When it rains and the sun shines
Get on the snail’s shell.”
Since with good sun the snail opens its eyes
Some wasps asked the snail:
-Where are you going, snail, with that Dorifora
Riding on your shell?
It replied:
-Let’s watch the part of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
(Picture book that Kylian and Eder are reading)
In which Ron Weasley tries to put a spell on Draco Malfoy
With the “slug swallower” spell
Resulting in Ron being the one who receives the spell
Because of his broken wand
Beginning to vomit slugs.
-But you’ll have to be careful, Snail
Because the children’s grandmother is saying
Right now, to their parents:
-Snails, grapes and figs should swim in wine.
-And what do you have to say to us about this?
The wasps asked the Potato Beetle:
It replied:
-That bed and sun are worth a snail.
That the Snail is marking the steps for the potato field
Leaving a silver path.
Also, it never puts on a bad face
Even if they give it cabbage or kale.
