Google Docs is used to write or edit various tasks and assignments. This word processor works on almost all types of devices. Google Docs automatically adds new pages as you type. However, sometimes a page may need to be deleted for editing or to correct errors.

The easiest way to delete one or more pages in Docs is to highlight the text on the page and press the backspace or delete button on the keyboard. If a page is not written but not deleted, it may be due to a hidden page break.

Page break is a feature to start a new page from the middle of a page. Let’s see how to delete a page in Google Docs.

From the browser

  1. First go to browser Google Docs and click on ‘Page Setup’ from ‘File’ option.
  2. Then click on the ‘Pages’ option, it will show all the page breaks in the document. Then tap on ‘OK’.
  3. Place the mouse cursor over the first word on a page.
  4. Click and drag the mouse cursor to the last word on the page. To delete multiple pages, highlight up to the last word on the next page.
  5. Press the ‘Backspace’ or ‘Delete’ button from the keyboard.

From the Android or iOS app

  1. Launch the Google Docs app.
  2. Enter edit mode by clicking on the ‘Pen’ icon.
  3. Tap on the three dot icon.
  4. Select the Page Setup option.
  5. Press the toggle button to change the page view.
  6. Go back to the document and click on the three-dot symbol.
  7. Choose the Print Layout option to view the document in page mode.
  8. Press and hold the first word on a page and highlight until the last word on the page.
  9. Delete the page by pressing the backspace button on the keyboard.

Rules for deleting pages using page breaks

Adding a page break from the Pages view in the Docs app will add a blank page to the document. Page breaks cannot be used from pageless views. However, adding a page break from Pages view will indicate a page break with a ‘dotted line’ when going into pageless mode. A page break is indicated by a dotted line or spot in the mobile app.

To delete page breaks from a computer, go to the Pages view in the Docs app. Move the mouse cursor to the end of the first word of the page after the page break and click. If the next page is blank, click on it. After that, the page break will be deleted by clicking the backspace or delete option on the keyboard.

To delete a page break from Android, tap next to or below the page break. Then you can delete the page break by clicking the backspace button on the keyboard.
