Pattering raindrops on the rooftops evoke music of the words,
And my quills start to dance in romance with the horned moon-
The voices of elks and dears reach out my elephant ears,
And my silent heart begins to throb to return home soon!
Moths of time love to chime with my magic quills,
But transcend music of the words to a heaven town-
And the wrinkled dusts, heaved on my quills’ lusts,
Play with greedy weeds just before swirling down!
Music of the words loves to croon with twilight moon,
And the upset daffodils float above the wailing of rain-
While I hear the bald eagle’s cry, under the leafy sky,
And the quills plough my mind’s pastureland in vain!
Suddenly a nervous doubtful thrash makes a hurried tune,
And my startled quills see the changes in autumn nature-
While the creation of music of the words abruptly stops,
And the flight of a last crow detours to show caricature!
My quills sing about the western lovebirds,
And force me to nap and sleep with lullaby-
But I hear the music of the words in my mind,
From the somnolent clouds under the open sky!
Soon the windy evening knocks on my door of sleep,
And my love, with a breathless hush, locks the door-
Perchance my hands fall on pillow, nappy quills hid below,
And the music of the words stops for then and no more!!
